Welcome 2017/2018 Design Team

Welcome, Mixed Media Design Team 2017/2018!

I'm I'm Debi Tullier, I'm a mixed media artist and seasoned Crafter. Paper and fabric ignite my creative juices, I love the thrill of discovering new methods of expressing myself and feel everyday is an opportunity to learn so much more. I love creating projects for challenges and having to think outside of my comfort zone. I love to incorporate watercolor, colored pencils, and markers into my projects. I also have taught adult, and children’s art and sewing classes, I am an HSA certified Sewing Instructor. I have two degrees in art, one in Fine Arts, and the other in Graphic Arts. You'll find my work published in a German Trade magazine for my Wurlitzer Juke Building Facade, and I also have my illustrations in several books. Each and every day is a gift and I want to savor it all!!

Jan Hunter, a lifelong crafter enjoys creating in many mediums, paper, fabric, clay, digital design, fiber and more.  She loves to quilt, do family history, read and explore other interests.  She has been designing for 30+ years and has seen many "old" techniques revived with new twists because of technology.  Such fun!  She is married and lives in Utah with her husband, providing full-time care of her mother.  They are parents of seven (7) adult children and are grandparents too (10).  She is a consultant (Children's Success Foundation) and certified trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach®.  She has taught crafting classes since 2008 and is the creator of Greatness Gems used by trainers in the approach around the world. Jan is excited to be a part of the Mixed Media Supplies Design Team and is looking forward to spending some additional time crafting and creating showcasing  MMS stamps, stencils and more!

Hi, my name is Susanne Franin, I enjoy working with different mediums and love getting messy. My favorite medium would have to be Mixed Media either on layouts, of the page product or anything that is alterable. I cannot wait to share and hopefully inspire you with my creations. xx

I am Ade (Aditi Badwe), from Australia. I started watching videos on Mix media art and just fell in love with it...to be honest being creative is my biggest passion and I enjoy nothing more. I am also a mother of a toddler son and he too likes craft activities. I love: mixed media art, DIY projects, fabric & t-shirt painting, making bath salts, altered canvas, abstract art, journaling and pottery painting.

My name is Amber and I live in small town Saskatchewan, Canada! I am mom to 2 and grandmama to a handsome little boy. My hubby is a hard working fireman/town laborer and stamping & creating is my therapy when he is busy taking care of others! I have been addicted to all things ink & paper for close to 10 years when I was invited over to a friend's to create Christmas cards. I've been hooked since then... and I can't wait to rock these challenges with the Team!

Sin City Stamps!

Supplies used today are:
Sin City Stamps
ribbon spool (optional)
Ink
embellishments
acetate
cardstock
Die (TH in this case)
embossing machine
patterned paper
double sided tape
wet glue
double sided foam tape

Hello! Welcome, I want to share with you my passion for mixed media stamps and Sin City Stamps delivers.  Today I am guest appearing for Sin City Stamps by far one of my favorites.

I used double sided tape to adhere my unmounted red rubber background stamp from Sin City Stamps to an old ribbon spool.
I used versafine black ink on my patterned paper. I rolled my stamp onto my paper and also used second and third generation stamping in any empty spots.   Then crinkled it all up and glued it to my plain cardstock.  I let it dry and ran my die and paper through an embossing and cutting machine.
I used Memento black ink for the wings on acetate and cut them out.

I glued my embellishments with foam tape and wet glue  and also attached a chain at the top.

This might just end up on around a nice bottle of wine as a gift.
Thanks for joining me!

In eBrush by Craftwell USA

Owl Always Love Whoo

Hi Today I am showing a card using a coloring book image cut and colored.
Supplies used today are:
Alcohol Marker
Cardstock
Ribbon
Patterned Paper
Easy background coloring made in a jiffy. I colored my focal image with alcohol markers and out lined some of the leaves and left parts white/blank. Then I used my eBrush to color in all the white areas. I could literally get a fine mist of color onto my paper and it took about 10 seconds!.

I cut and layered all of my patterned paper onto thick cardstock card base and placed some ribbon and within 15 - 20 mins I had a card ready to mail off.
Have a great rest of your week!

Peggy

In Cut N Boss eBrush by Craftwell USA Mixed Media Supplies

Thank you flowers

Hi Peggy here and today I am going to show you my handmade flowers using my eBrush and background paper using my cut n boss electronic embossing machine.
Supplies used today:
markers
cardstock
stamped sentiment
ink
gel medium
flower punch/flower petals hand cut
water
glue/tape
floral wire
I started with my flowers and petals. I eBrushed (sprayed) with alcohol markers to get different effects on each petal. Some were light on the outside and some not. Then I sprayed water on each petal and formed my petals with the bottom of a pen and rolling some over a pencil and squishing the ends to create a more natural form. Breaking down the fibers with water and a pen help to form the petals more easily. I let them dry before placing them all on top of each other and fitting them with some floral wire for stayman and gluing the centers in place.
Next I chose some complementary colors of cardstock and quickly embossed them using my Craftwell embossing folders and my Cut N Boss electronic embossing machine. I cut them all down to size to make this Thank You card.
I taped and glued everything down and for a final touch I painted the tips of my flowers with pearl metallic mica powders and gel medium.

Have a great day! Check out the store on the Craftwell site here: http://www.craftwellusa.com

In eBrush by Craftwell USA Golden GAC800 Kroma Mediums Liquitex Ink

Acrylic Dirty Pour and my eBrush

Hello! Peggy here today I am excited today to show you how I made this canvas! Supplies used today are:

Torch
Silicone oil
Golden GAC 800 (to reduce crazing)
Kroma Acrylic Fluid Medium
Ranger Alcohol Ink (Metallic Gold)
Liquitex Ink (Cerulean Blue)
12x16 Cotton Canvas Opus Exhibition
Recycled Newspaper to catch extra paint
cups for mixing and for legs for drying

Today was the day I had to try this technique..
I created a "Dirty Pour" Mix into a cup created of Acrylic Medium, Acrylic Paint, Silicone Oil, GAC 800 to prevent crazing and Ink. Each color was created separately in a cup with oil and medium before combining into one cup. I  slowly added each color into one cup with the majority of white on the bottom. White , Blue, Turquoise and Black with Gold alcohol ink touch.
I used Turquoise Spray from the DecoArt Media line to create these lovely branched crystals.
I do not imagine any one piece the same.
After pouring the cocktail of mixture I tipped the canvas until the edges were covered.
I quickly fired up a  hand torch and heated the canvas to create separations in paint called cells.

Then I took my eBrush and just with air starting from about 12inches  above increasing closeness until I slowly moved paint to create whispy effects such as exposing the heavier paint underneath. This technique was ever so changing and fun to watch.

As the paint was drying I noticed very distinct valleys of texture separation.  I would think the ink mixed with medium would be thinner (viscosity)  and separated or my sea level altitude had an effect on drying time

I let this all dry overnight on the kitchen counter and woke up and hung my piece.
I love it! I will be coating this to protect it.

Check out Craftwell USA's page for your eBrush for great techniques such as this.
